Mike has been in the energy marketplace for 35+ years. After attending the University of Kansas, Mike’s first job was working with an independent oil producer. Mike then moved to Tulsa and began trading refined fuels with Petroleum Trading and Transportation. In 1989 Mike moved to Houston continuing to trade refined fuels and crude oil for Enron. While at Enron, Mike launched the SMARTT Pricing Program – teaching producers how to hedge their production by embedding puts in the sale of their crude oil. In 1996, Mike joined Amerex Natural Gas and subsequently became a Partner and President contributing to Amerex becoming one of the country’s largest voice brokerage firms.
Seeking a new challenge, Mike opened a new market in Houston for TFS Energy as VP/GM. TFS Energy brokers natural gas, crude oil, power, and retail electricity globally. Due to regulations changes, Mike decided to leave voice brokering and began focusing on the futures market as an Introducing Broker representing multiple FCM’s.
In 2017, Mike became the COO of EMEX Utility Group, expanding the scope of the company’s focus into new up-market channels in wholesale natural gas and electricity applications. While working with larger Tier-One wholesale developers, Mike realized that there was/is a huge market gap in the PPA/VPPA marketplace that could be serviced by online real-time auction technology, so he subsequently started eRENEWABLE, and this is the current focus and passion that Mike is addressing in the green energy marketplace.
In addition, Mike was also one of the founding members of the University of Houston, C.T. Bauer College of Business Dean Advisory Board for their Global Energy Management Institute program. He additionally holds both Series 3 and Series 30 licenses with the National Futures Association.
Anne has over 15 years in the energy industry, with her focus being in sales and marketing. Anne’s experience in the energy sector has included: Koch Refining Company, Enfuels Corporation (an Enron company), and MX Energy (now Constellation). Other work experience has included: Marketing Manager for the University of Houston and recruiting of students for the MBA and EMBA program within the Bauer College of Business and Tulane University. Anne’s area of focus with AMN Advisory Services, LLC has included energy recruitment, consulting for a cooperative buying association, and marketing for an energy company. Anne has held board positions within the Assistance League of Clear Lake, Galveston/Bay Area Heart Association, Bay Area Women’s Association, Children At Risk, Assistance League of Houston, and she also holds an Economics degree from the University of Tulsa
The Nemers have always supported the renewable market, as far back as the early 1990’s when they started recycling their soda cans. eRENEWABLE not only provides a platform for Mike and Ann to give back to their community, but also to give back to the planet by being valuable corporate partners bringing flexibility and optionality to the renewable energy market - by helping others reach their renewable and sustainable goals, one auction at a time.
